If you want to release a short run book, say of a 100 copies for family and friends, an interesting new way of doing this is by self publishing.
If you are self publising, you are essentially doing everything yourself - the writing, editing, page formatting, cover design and distribution are all your responsiblity. It can be very rewarding to construct your own book in this manner.

Essentially, once you have uploaded your manuscript to their website, you can choose a cover and begin selling your book right away through their storefront. LuLu handle the printing and charge around $0.05 pence per page.
You can bulk order your books to be printed by Lulu and then sell it to yourself for friends and family. An ordinarily bound book of 54 pages (the minimum to allow the binding process) should cost around $7 including full colour cover.
