Drafting
Drafting is an essential part in the construction of any poem. It can take many radically different drafts before you finally come up with a polished piece you are happy with. In many instances the drafting process can be done cold - a word replaced here or an extra stress required there can help the poem ‘flow’ more easily. However; at times it may be also be important to be in the same creative ‘zone’ during the drafting process as you was during the poems original construction.
For example, it might be whole stanzas that need moving, changing, or updating. It can be useful to write your original poem, and come back and redraft it a few days later. This way you can look at it from a different viewpoint - at times you’re origina idea or favourite lines might need to be the ones that you have to replace.
